LUMECCA Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

IPL Is a safe and established treatment which can effectively address many anti-ageing concerns, such as, fine lines/wrinkles, a rough skin texture, signs of photodamage (such as sun damage and hyperpigmentation), facial thread veins, as well as flushing and chronic facial redness, as well as a variety of vascular skin lesions, including poikiloderma of civatte.

Lumecca IPL uses a patented powerful flashlamp to deliver high intensity pulsed light within a specific wavelength spectrum and energy through photothermolysis, which is a highly selective & controlled thermal damage to a particular target in the skin. IPL is able to treat many concerns in a single session, as the wavelengths emitted can target a number of different structures in the skin, which is why it is such an ideal multi-tasking treatment to target flushing (redness), as well as pigmentation. In addition, Lumecca IPL has proven regenerative benefits and builds new collagen and improves the strength of the elastin in the skin promoting natural results, firmer skin and a instant radiant complexion.

Lumecca IPL is a particularly effective treatment for the flushing and redness associated with rosacea. Over an initial course of 2-3 treatments, these symptoms as well as facial thread veins, can significantly reduce. This treatment can compliment all other procedures and is a highly effective anti-ageing skin rejuvenation procedure for the face, neck & body.

Frequently asked questions

This is a common concern with IPL. The discomfort is very manageable and temporary and lasts only for as long as the brief time that the IPL energy is delivered into the skin. Lumecca IPL also features a strong sapphire cooling tip to maximise the treatment experience and comfort.

This will be discussed at your personalised consultation following a detailed assessment of the area(s) to be treated. Lumecca IPL delivers an exceptional quantity of energy in each treatment, which means that often less treatment sessions are required, in comparison to other IPL devices to achieve the best results. Often an initial treatment course of 3 treatments are recommended with an interval of approximately 1 month between sessions.  Maintenance is always required, to ensure the best treatment outcomes long-term with progressive improvements and cumulative benefits.

Prior to the area being treated, it should be free from make-up, perfume, deodorant and body/face creams. This includes avoiding using deodorant to underarms prior to treatment. It is important to avoid waxing, plucking, hair removal creams and bleaching for 1 month prior to IPL treatments. There must be no active or fake tan on any areas requiring treatment. The use of sunbeds or prolonged exposure to sunlight is not permitted 1 month prior and following treatment. A minimum factor of SPF 30 should be applied to the area between treatments. An active tan must have completely faded before treatment can start, and fake tan must be completely removed prior to treatment. It is vitally important that you inform us of all medication (including over the counter) remedies/supplements that you may be taking at the consultation, as well as any changes with regard to these between appointments during the treatment course.

Cooling the skin may be required during and following the procedure. If the feeling of heat persists following treatment upon returning home, then cooling can continue. Specific advice will be given at the time of your appointment, should this be required, but it is important to avoid applying cool packs, or ice, directly in contact with the skin. After treatment, the area may appear red with some tingling, which is perfectly normal and will settle. Mild swelling and darkening of areas of hyperpigmentation may also occur, this can vary depending upon the area and specific treatment being performed. Specific post-treatment advice will be tailored to you individually.

No, this is not recommended as the skin barrier requires time to heal & recover fully.

Yes, this always recommended and can be discussed on an individual basis.
